Extinct Memorials & Monuments

Extinct Memorials and Monuments are those that have either been vandalised and never repaired, or the plaque which shows the context has gone missing and has never been replaced, or the context itself is no longer relevant. Sadly there are quite a few of these about in South Africa. I am glad to say that I have removed two of the memorials from this list as they have since been restored. I have also created a new version of the Irish Brigades Monument page for where it is now in Orania, the Brixton page however will remain as is. I am also happy to report that the Roodepoort Civic Fountain is no longer extinct after it was researched by a local researcher. The Roll of Honour has not been tracked down but the fountain has.
