Turn The Radio On: The Mid Morning Show With Elinor
Elinor, as everybody knows, works as a radio presenter at Radio WTWINN, a new radio station that provides quality dolly programming for dolls with a discerning taste in light entertainment. Getting the job wasn't easy, but she was lucky that Heather's people knew people, and when Heather mentioned that there was an opening for a presenter at the newly opened studio's she jumped at the chance to audition.

"Good morning dolls and doll lovers, its Elinor broadcasting from the studios of Radio WTWINN. Quality dolly programming on FM, all day round, everyday. The time right now is 11am and am glad you could join me for the "Mid Morning with Elinor Show". We start the ball rolling with a request from Sally who writes:
"Dear Elinor, could you please play "Crocodile Rock" especially for Carlisle, Cavendish, Carruthers, Clinton, Catherine and all the other crocs at the Twinn Continuum and Tumbling Twinns. As well as the Emmas and all my old friends in back in PA."
"Thanks Sally, I am sure that everybody in PA will be pleased to hear from you. And here is Elton John with Crocodile Rock....."
"While the other kids were rocking round the clock
We were hopping and bopping to the crocodile rock"
Back at home Sally was thrilled to hear her request playing. "I hope everybody back home hears it. Do you think they can receive the station Erin?"
"I dont know Sally, but even if they can't, it's the thought that counts. It's great to have music to relax by. Turn the radio up a bit Sally."

"Dawn and Anastasia have written in and asked that we play some nice Caitie music for them and they send their best wishes to all the Caities out there, as well as special greetings to Randy back in PA. Thanks girls, I did have a bit of trouble finding suitable Caitie music, but settled on this oldie from Eric Carmen very appropriately entitled "Turn The Radio Up". Sounds like good advise me..."
"Turn the radio up for that sweet sound
Hold me close never let me go
keep this feelin alive
Make me lose control"
|
Anastasia and Dawn were making fun of the America Girl catalogue when their request came through. "They're playing our song Dawn."
"Cool, Elinor said she would play our requests, looks like she came through for us."
"It's handy knowing a DJ, maybe we can get her to play some Pink Floyd next time." |
 |
The song ended and Elinor came back on air. "Phew, that was an oldie but also a goodie. We will be right back after this message..."
Heather was in Studio 2 doing the commercials and anouncements. "Are you tired of listening to the same old music? Tune into Radio WTWINN for quality dolly programming thats just up your street. All day, everyday, music, news, weather and traffic. Turn your dials to the only station worth listening to; Radio WTWINN."

"We're back, and it's time for our weekly safety hint from Skye of the C&D Detective Agency. Remember, C&D are registered with the Dolly Detective Board and are here to solve all those mysteries that keep you awake at night. Good Morning Skye, thanks for being with us today."
"My pleasure Elinor, I am glad to be here."
"Skye, how about some sound advice for our listeners?"
"Well Elinor, its important that we are always aware of what's going on around us. Keep a sharp eye open when you go out and look for things that are out of the ordinary. If you are followed head for a public place where there are lots of people and try to find a security guard or policeman to assist you. Phone a friend, phone a taxi, but don't get lulled into thinking that the person following you is doing it by co-incidence, they may have a reason, and it may not be in your best interest."
"That's good advise Skye, I bet our listeners will keep it in mind. Now tell me, what mysteries have C&D been involved with lately?"
"It's been very quiet lately Elinor, the weather has kept the baddies indoors, but we are busy with some hush-hush cases that we hope to break very soon. Unfortunately I cannot disclose what they are for fear of warning the perpetrators that we are onto them."
"Thank you for coming in Skye, we hope that when the cases have been solved you will come in and tell us all about them."
"Thank you Elinor, and remember listeners "Keep 'em peeled". "

"Ah, I know that everybody turned their radios up, I could hear them from here! A quick traffic warning. Traffic is moving slower than normal on the M1 North due to a truck thats lost its load of cabbages near Allandale, a taxi broken down near New Road and road works between Gallo Manor and Allandale. If you have an appointment for 12 o'clock you ain't gonna make it!"
"Our next request comes from Jennifer Mae and Lily Su who are catching up on their dingbat practise. They would like to send their best wishes to all the Asian Twinns out there and especially the Berks of Berks, wishing them all a great week and may all their fortune cookies be wise ones. They asked me to play "Little China Girl" by David Bowie and here is David.....
"....I could escape this feeling, with my China girl...."

"I have just received an e-mail from Sarah Willow III at the Twinn Continuum. She says: "Dear Elinor, we love your show over here and never miss it. Would you please play "Sara Smile" by Hall and Oates and dedicate it to Sarah Willow at the Tumbling Twinns? I'm told it's the song that gave Sarah her name! Thanks and love, Sarah III." My pleasure Sarah, and I bet that Sarah Willow back in Texas would love to hear this song too. Play it away Hall and Oates..."
"Sara smile Wont you smile a while for me"

Sarah was in the kitchen, trying to get the new toaster oven to work when she heard the request. "What thoughtful a gesture, I must really send in a request to the other two Sarah's and all the Lenoras out there."
Mid Morning with Elinor continued....
"And now for some weather, Winter is still with us and there is not much chance of it going away for at least another month. But, you can expect sunny days and cold nights with a high of 18 and a low of 4 degrees tonight in the Gauteng region. Radio WTWINN however will never leave you feeling cold because we have lots of really hot music. Our next request is from Amanda who sends her best wishes to all the Loveable Sisters and pets out there, and especially to Willow and Perriwinkle back at the Continuum. Thanks Amanda, and I see you have asked for a real golden oldie. How many of you remember this one from Tom Jones?"
"What's New Pussycat Woah Woah, What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah, Woah, Woah, Woah."
|
"Our next request comes from Caitlyn from the C&D Detective Agency. She writes: "Dear Elinor, thanks for a great show! I would like you to play a special piece of music for my old nemesis Madame Hi Heel, who is currently in Birdwood Prison serving a 240 year sentence. Could you play "I want to Break Free" by Queen for her? I am sure it will make her long for home. Oh, and please send my regards to all my colleagues at C&D as well as the Twinns at the Twinn Continuum and at Tumbling Twinns."
"I sure will Cait, I believe you are taking a few days leave and are enjoying the sun, don't come back as an 04! And here is the late Freddy Mercury and Queen sending some ideas to Madame Heel.
"...Ive got to break free,
God knows
God knows I want to break free."
Back at Birdwood Prison, Caitlyn's request was broadcast over the PA as well as Mme. Heels cheap bakelite radio. All the prisoners and warders laughed when they heard the dedication. But Mme. Heel did not laugh. "Just wait," she muttered. "When I break out of this crummy place I'll have the last laugh."

Courtney was leading the Twinn Tone-Up class. The girls were listening to Elinor as they did their exercises. Courtney looked at her watch. "And now, let's do leg lifts."
"Courtney, the music is too slow," complained Jessie, looking for an excuse.
Just then Elinor announced, "And now, for the Twinn Tone-Up group in Pennsylvania, here are the Village People singing about the "YMCA". I hear its great music to do your morning exercises to. Come on girls, lets tone those bodies!"
"Courtney, you planned that," laughed Olivia breathlessly.
"Yes, I sent her a fax this morning, I thought we needed some inspiration," Courtney replied. "Come on, girls, left leg first, hold in your stomach, and don't forget to breathe!"
"You can hang out with all the boys ... It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a."

|
Elinor returned, "I don't know about everybody else, but just listening to that tune makes me tired! We are coming around to the bottom of the hour now, and we cross over to our news studio for an update on what's new in Dollyland. Keep listening to the Mid Morning with Elinor Show, your best show for requests and music until midday. Over to you Justyn in the news studio."
