The Arrival of Nicole

One afternoon, in mid December, some of the Twinns were enjoying the weekend at home when there was a knock on the door. Victoria was on Door Duty that day, taking a well deserved break from her role as Cosmic Tangerine

"Good morning." Victoria said politely to the Twinn standing at the door.
"Good morning, is this the home of the Tumbling Twinns?"
"Yes it is. My name is Victoria. How may I help you?"
"How do you do Victoria, I am Twinn Time 2008, I am here to bring New Years messages to the Tumbling Twinns and to bring in the New Year."
"Um, aren't you a bit early?" Victoria asked, inviting Twinn Time 2008 in.
"Early?"
"Yes, it's still 2007."
"But, 2007, how can that be? it's supposed to be 2008. I wondered why it was still so light outside."
Twinn Time took out a large pocket watch and peered at it. "According to my watch its just past 12 o' clock on the 31st of December which makes it the 1st of January 2008!"
"It's a very pretty watch." Victoria remarked, admiring the timepiece.
"It's been in the family since Twinns had Apple Valley bodies." Nicole insisted.
"Be that as it may," Victoria said. "there is only one Twinn that can help. Lets find Amanda, she was Twinn Time a few years back, she is bound to know what is going on."
Amanda was duly called and the luckless Twinn was handed given over to her capable hands.
Amanda sat the slightly downcast Twinn down and rustled up some tea for her. She introduced herself and then asked, "did you get a letter of appointment from Father Time?"
The Twinn handed over her letter of appointment to Amanda who read it.
"The standard form letter I see, your paperwork seems to be in order, I expect that your watch must be wrong." Amanda said wisely.
"But my watch is never wrong Amanda, its a classic timepiece, Chinese made, with 10 jewels and a genuine plastic crystal."
"Nicole, I hate to say this, but your watch is still showing the same time as when you arrived here, I don't think it's even working at all."
"But, but....." Nicole burst into tears, "I am going to go down in history as the worst Twinn Time ever. I arrived too early, my watch is broken and I don't know what I am going to do."
Amanda was suprised to see Nicole crying, usually Lenoras are very level headed. "There there, I am sure we can make a plan. Lets speak to Caitlyn and see what she says. If anybody can sort things out it's Caitlyn. She is an expert sorter outer and fixer upper".
Amanda took Nicole to see Caitlyn who was busy reading a fantasy novel to Carruthers and Constantinople Croc while guzzling Fritos.....
Amanda introduced the tear drenched Twinn to Caitlyn and explained the predicament.
Caitlyn laughed. "Nicole, I wouldnt worry too much about being the worst Twinn Time. The Twinn Time for 2005 only came out of solitary confinement 2 months after New Years day and Twinn Time 2007 briefly materialised up a tree before vanishing in a cloud of sparkles and dust. I believe she has been seen all over the place since then, never staying long enough in one place so that anybody can have anything but a brief chat with her before going "pop" and disappearing. Its something to do with her subspace transmogryfyer thingey I expect."
"What I suggest you do is bring your goodies, get Amanda to find you somewhere to sleep and you can become one of the Tumbling Twinns, we all will look the other way and make as if you never did your Twinn Time intro today and will all feign surprise on New Years Day. Nobody need ever know. Oh, and we can get Paige to take a look at your watch, she is good with that sort of thing. And, when New Years Day has come and gone you can loan me that outfit of yours, I have always wanted to wear the poodle skirt, Audreys always look great in that outfit. Its an Audrey thing".
Amanda was right, Caitlyn did have a solution, and a pretty good one it was to. And so it was that Nicole joined Tumbling Twinns, somewhat confused timewise, but everybody blamed that on her layover in the Virgin Islands, and her faulty pocket watch (which has since been replaced by a digital clock)!
