Visiting Walter. 29-09-2011

Newclare Cemetery is a curious one. 2 Separate cemeteries bisected by a road. Its a big one too, and it has a CWGC plot as well. I have been there before to take pics although I no longer have them on my blog. They are now at Eggsa The CWGC plot I photographed in 2007 and it was quite an event as I did it all in one morning. There are 110 graves in the plot and fortunately they are all next to each other.
My expedition on this day was to get some panoramas and to visit the grave of Walter and Albertina Sisulu.

That statue I saw in Diagonal Street was my reminder, and I stopped to pay my respects. The one thing that was missing was the small statue that used to lean against a pillar at the grave site, but he had been moved, and I found him once again. I wonder if somehow he wasn’t connected to that statue in Diagonal Street. Anyway, Its a wonderful piece of work and I am very fond of it and want to share him with everybody.

I was even fortunate enough to grab some pics of class 35 diesels running past. Quite odd to photograph trains in a cemetery. Then it was time to go home. A successful day was had.
