Lone Sailor Memorial in San Francisco: USA

These photographs of the Lone Sailor Memorial in San Francisco were taken by James Houston-McMillan and are used with his permission.

The memorial is a replica of the statue created by sculptor Stanley Bleifeld for the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, and was dedicated in 4 April 2002 as a tribute to the seafarers of the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine who shipped out through the Golden Gate — more than a million and a half during World War II. Google Earth co-ordinates for this memorial are: 37° 49.959′ N, 122° 28.796′ W
