Burley War Memorial: New Forest, Hampshire

While travelling to Poole with my landlord we went through the village of Burley in the New Forest, Hampshire. I spotted it when we were almost on top of it and we ended up doing a U-turn in the middle of the Village. The memorial stands on a traffic island at the crossroads and seems to have been restored recently. There are 23 names from the First World War, and 20 names from the Second World War and it was erected in 1919 at the expense of a local resident, Col. F. Willan in gratitude for the survival of his sons and to honour those who fell.

Google Earth co-ordinates are:  50.826433°,  -1.701745°

The name list is difficult to research because there is so little information on each person, some I may never work out as there is just not enough information and too many possibles. (Some names open in a CWGC Casualty Details page)
