Bomber Command Memorial

Long denied their own special memorial, Bomber Command now has a special place of its own. The memorial, by Liam O’Connor has as a centrepiece a grouping of airmen that was sculpted by Philip Jackson.

Many of the features of the memorial invoke aspects of flight and the special men that made up this controversial arm of the Royal Air Force.

The memorial was unveiled on 28 June 2012, and has since become a popular pilgrimage place for those who had family involved in the RAF during the war.

More information is available on the memorial website.
