During my trip to Hong Kong I visited the Museum of Coastal Defence, and one of the exhibits was the anchor of HMS Tamar. A former troopship which became a receiving ship for the Royal Navy in Hong Kong after 1878. She was scuttled in the harbour on 12 December 1941 during the battle for Hong Kong. Her anchor was later displayed at the entrance to the Naval base in Central, and subsequently on Stonecutters Island for several decades until it was transferred to the museum in 1997.
