South American Warships to the Cape.

I was given a whole stack of prints that were photographed of warships that called in Cape Town and Simonstown roughly between 1994 and 2002. The photographer was Patrick Gavin Worman, and unfortunately like so many of us he was tied down to weather, photography position, camera and skill, and I am grateful to him for capturing images of these vessels. He passed away in 2018

This gallery features ships from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

Lone Sailor Memorial in San Francisco: USA

These photographs of the Lone Sailor Memorial in San Francisco were taken by James Houston-McMillan and are used with his permission.

The memorial is a replica of the statue created by sculptor Stanley Bleifeld for the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, and was dedicated in 4 April 2002 as a tribute to the seafarers of the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine who shipped out through the Golden Gate — more than a million and a half during World War II.

Google Earth co-ordinates for this memorial are: 37° 49.959′ N, 122° 28.796′ W
