Titanic Related Graves

There are at least 58 graves in Southampton Old Cemetery that are related to the Titanic disaster on April 1912. And while I have found at least 41, those that are unfound either have no discernable headstone or identification, or I missed seeing them amongst the undergrowth. I also picked up one grave in St Mary’s Extra Cem, as well as two in Hollybrook. I believe there could be as many as 18 in Hollybrook, but without a proper list I cannot say. There are a number of uncoloured pegged graves (Titanic graves are usually marked with a blue peg), and these may or may not be Titanic related. There is also the grave of Sir Arthur Rostron up in West End that I was able to see and add to this collection.

The Webber Grave in South Africa always fascinated me, and I have included it in here, although this will link to a separate page.  Special thanks must go to Geoff Watts and the Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery, The British Titanic Society, and the dedicated staff at these cemeteries. Some graves are unidentified, but maybe one day….. Special mention must go to Brian Ticehurst for his book “Titanic Victims discovered in the Old Cemetery”.
