Another “spotted by accident” memorial, this one I saw as we went past it, and I was hunkering to get pics of it although it was too far away to walk to. It stands on the pavement in Bassett Avenue, and is easily missed. It is a World War 1 Memorial, and I could not quite see what the significance was, although I do expect it will tie into Southampton Docks. I do believe that there were transit camps in this area and soldiers heading for the docks would often be based here before they left.
There are names on either side of the memorial, and these are available on request. The Google Earth Co-ordinates are 50.941054°, -1.406979°
