The Anglo Boer War (1899-1902) Pages

On 11 October 1899, war was declared on the British Empire by the Boer's. It was the start of a bloody and bitter conflict that raged across what later became South Africa. By the end of the war in May 1902 the destiny of this small part of the African continent was changed irrevocably. The other legacy this war left us was sharp divisions in the people of South Africa, divisions that never healed and today we are still having to deal with them and their consequences.
My interest in the Anglo Boer War of 1899-1902, did not come about a long time ago, but only recently. I will also admit that my knowledge of this war was (and still is) very limited, most of what I knew was the propaganda rammed down my throat by the Transvaal Education Department at the time when I went to school. Recently I started to read about it and found it quite interesting, but depending on what you read, very one sided. I have my own conclusions, and chances are they will differ from other people's conclusions.
The only remnants I see today are the forgotten graves and memorials in the cemeteries I visit.
This is a work in progress, some of these pages take you outside of the Boer War section of this website and once again, some images and pages open in a new window.

These pages are dedicated to ALL those who lost their lives in and as a result of the two Anglo Boer Wars of 1880-1881 and 1899-1902.
